Former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg had suspended his campaign for Democratic presidential nomination following his poor Super Tuesday results.
Mr Bloomberg threw his support behind former US Vice President Joe Biden whose campaign saw a significant surge in momentum following the important day of voting.
Mr Bernardi said Bloomberg's campaign showed "just because you've made a lot of money doesn't mean you've got what it takes to be in politics".
Fellow panelist Sky News Host James Morrow said Mr Biden was doing well "pretty much because the Democrats has no one else left to go to".
"They have cycled through every single other possible alternative to Bernie Sanders to try and put up against Donald Trump," he said.
