Atrocities against women and young girls are on a rise across India. Official statistics paint a grim and alarming picture in this context. According to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), a woman gets raped every 15 minutes in the country. In Odisha, 1149 women were raped by June 2019, the report says. ଭାରତରେ ମହିଳା, ନାବାଳିକା ଓ ଶିଶୁକନ୍ୟାଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ନିର୍ଯାତନା ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇବା ଏବେ ଏକ ଉଦବେଗଜନକ ପରିସ୍ଥିତି ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିଛି । ଜାନୁଆରୀ ୨୦୨୦ରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ଜାତୀୟ ଅପରାଧ ରେକର୍ଡ ବ୍ୟୁରୋ (ଏନ୍ସିଆର୍ବି) ରିପୋର୍ଟ ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଦେଶରେ ପ୍ରତି ୧୫ମିନିଟ୍ରେ ଜଣେ ମହିଳା ବଳାତ୍କାର ଶିକାର ହେଉଛନ୍ତି । ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଦୈନିକ ପ୍ରାୟ ୭ଜଣ ମହିଳା ବଳାତ୍କାରର ଶିକାର ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ବୋଲି ବିଧାନସଭାରେ ନଭେମ୍ବର ୨୦୧୯ ରେ ରାଜ୍ୟ ସରକାରଙ୍କ ପକ୍ଷରୁ ଉପସ୍ଥାପନ କରାଯାଇଥିବା ତଥ୍ୟରୁ ଜଣାପଡିଛି । ୨୦୧୯ ଜୁନ୍ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ୧,୧୪୯ ମହିଳା ବଳାତ୍କାର ଶିକାର ହୋଇଛନ୍ତି ।
