Ear wax removal is necessary when ear wax build up becomes impacted. Symptoms causes by earwax blockage include: earache (otalgia), conductive hearing loss, blocked ear, vertigo, tinnitus, itchiness and irritation, occlusion etc.
The client attended with bilateral fully occluding earwax. His right ear was more impacted.
I successfully removed the blocked earwax from both ears. In the right ear, the client became slightly anxious when I approached the more lateral earwax near the eardrum. However, after reassuring him, he was more at ease and I was able to successfully removed the large piece of earwax that was lodged deep inside his ear canal.
In the left ear there was some residual earwax on his eardrum inferiorly. As the client was more at ease, I managed to delicate approach this small piece of his earwax, which was hard to visual as it was tucked away behind his inferior recess, using a Fine End Gauge 18 attached to the standard Zoellner suction probe.
