The Cold War placed Pakistan in the U.S. camp through military alliances such as SEATO and CENTO while India led the Non-Aligned Movement and a treaty with the USSR (Russia).

After the collapse of the USSR, Indo-American relations have been on the upswing, specially after 9/11 and Pakistan’s dubious role as the world supplier of Islamist terrorists who have targeted India, the US, Great Britain and Israel.
